Beyond the central role, Michael features an impressive ensemble cast portraying the key figures in Jackson’s life.
Nia Long plays Jackson’s mother, Katherine Jackson, who was widely regarded as the emotional anchor of the Jackson family. Colman Domingo, a two-time Oscar nominee, takes on the role of Joe Jackson, Michael’s father and manager.
Joe Jackson remains one of the most controversial figures in the singer’s life. While he was instrumental in guiding The Jackson 5 to global fame, he has also been widely criticized for his strict and sometimes abusive parenting methods. Exploring that dynamic is likely to play a major role in the film’s early chapters. Other cast members include Miles Teller as John Branca, Jackson’s longtime attorney and one of the executors of his estate, as well as Derek Luke as the legendary lawyer Johnnie Cochran, who defended Jackson during the 1993 child molestation allegations.

A second film, currently rumored to be in development, would then explore the peak of Jackson’s global fame during the Thriller era and the complicated chapters that followed.
